Mother Maria at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival

I was very privileged to be able to attend the Mother Maria show at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival last night. The clothes looked AMAZING on the catwalk. It's so good to see fresh new Australian Designers like Mother Maria making an impression on the Industry. The cute & unique Mother Maria Style, along with the quirky head pieces made quite an impression on the audience and media. This is a label I think we are going to see go a long long way! Weather Please Warm Up!

It was actually quite a nice day today here in QLD, I won't say it was singlet and shorts weather, but hopefully a small taste of what is to come in the near future! The reason for my anxiousness for warmer days is the arrival of SO MUCH new Spring Stock! Two of my favourite summer collections arrived today from Lilya and Nookie. Completely different, Lilya is a mix of folky/boho/hippy styles (don't get me wrong, there are some ultra sexy party styles mixed in too - LOVE the Maria Jumpsuit), and Nookie Boutique - hot hot hot!

Ashley Olsen's Black Tube Skirt

Ever since I saw this photo of Ashley Olsen a few months back I have been searching for a black stretch tube skirt. You know when you just fall in love with a particular celebrity's look and immediately start imagining that you will be able to pull it off in exactly that same way?

Such a simple clothing item, but do you think I could find one? I was delighted yesterday when the first Spring drop of Mother Maria arrived because I had been sweating on receiving the Pin Up Pencil Skirt for months now. I love that this single item will look great for Winter with a cropped jacket, and then will take me through to summer with a simple singlet and sandals.

Such a versatile wardrobe item!

Channelling Sienna Miller....

Doing the "buying" each season for AustralianFlavour can certainly be overwhelming. I get to see so many different items of clothing that won't actually be available for the general public to purchase for up to 8 months sometimes. By the time the stock arrives, I'm always waiting with baited breath, and hoping that my choices all those months ago are still going to be ok. In a world in which what the celebrity style queens wear, drives what we want to be wearing, I'm always pleased when one of my favourite celebs is photographed wearing something very very similar to what I've chosen to purchase for AustralianFlavour for that season!


This month I'm very happy that it seems I have some how channelled Sienna in our taste of clothing. I can't wait for the Mother Maria High Tea Dress to arrive (approx the 17th of August), and the Bec & Bridge Stripe Maxi (which is already here) is definitely one of my favourites. I'm feeling pretty confident that the rest of the Spring & Summer arrivals are going to be amazing, with or without celebrity look a likes.
